NEW SKELAN is a musculoskeletal analgesic with antirheumatic, anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant actions. It provides these valuable actions by combining two established agents with complementary effects in the thorough relief of pain, spasm and stiffness affecting skeletal muscles and joints - whether in inflammatory or traumatic and degenerative conditions.

NEW SKELAN incorporates Calcium Phenylbutazone - an anti-inflammatory analgesic antipyretic agent whose efficacy in rheumatoid arthritis and related afflictions is clinically well accepted; and Carisoprodol - a muscle relaxant which is qualitatively different from and superior to other centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants. Carisoprodol has marked and selective analgesic effects on pain originating in skeletal muscle, bones and joints particularly if accompanied by exaggerated muscle tension. This analgesic effect is independent of its muscle relaxant action.

Being a non-narcotic and non-steroid preparation, NEW SKELAN is free from addiction, habituation, development of tolerance, and other undesirable side effects common with the use of steroids and narcotic drugs.

FORMULA:
Each capsule contains Calcium Phenylbutazone, 200 mg; and Carisoprodol, 125 mg

INDICATIONS:
Degenerative conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis and periarthritis.

DOSAGE:
1 capsule 2-3 times a day.

PRECAUTIONS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS:
NEW SKELAN is contraindicated in patients with a history of peptic ulcer, blood dyscrasia or allergy to phenylbutazone. It should be given during
or after meals to avoid possible gastric irritation. Some susceptible patients may experience dizziness, drowsiness and vomiting but these symptoms rarely warrant discontinuance of therapy. As with other preparations containing pyrazolone derivatives, caution should be observed when administering to elderly patients and those with renal, hepatic or cardiac diseases, epilepsy and convulsant disorders. In chronic conditions necessitating prolonged and continuous therapy, it is recommended that periodic white blood cell counts be determined.
