Guaiaphenesin 50.0 mg
PHARMACOLOGY
Salbutamol sulphate is a beta-adrenergic stimulant which has highly selective action on the receptors in bronchial muscle, and in therapeutic dosage, little or no action on the cardiac receptors.
It has more prolonged action than isoprenaline and has been reported to have more selective. These action are believed to result from increased production of cyclic adenosine 3', 5'-monophosphate caused by activation of the enzyme adenyl cyclase.
Because of their selective action on the bronchi and their lack of effect on the cardiovascular system, Salbutamol is suitable for treating bronchospasm in patients with co-existing heart disease or hypertension.
Guaiaphenesin or glyceryl guaiacolate is reported to reduce the viscosity of tenacious sputum and is used as an expectorant.
INDICATIONS
As a bronchodilator and expectorant in all types of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema with the sputum in the respiratory tract.
