PHARMACOLOGY
- Pharmacology : Biochemically, Mecobalamin is concerned with transmethylation a B12 containing enzyme occurring in the blood and is the most active of all B12 homolog in nucleic acid, protein and lipid metabolism in the body. Further, it has been pharmacologically established that Mecobalamin facilitates myelinogenesis and nerve regeneration and double-blind clinical studies have provided evidence that Methycobal benefits neuropaties such as diabetic nervous disorders and multiple neuritis.
- Pharmacological of actions: Improvement of disturbances in metabolism of nucleic acids and protein in nerve tissue. Mecobalamin is the one of onlyhomolog of Vit B12 that participates and transmethylation of transfer RNAs, which play an important role in protein synthesis and stimulates Methionine synthesis in rat glial cells to agreater estent than cobalamine (DBCC/ dimethylbenzimidazoly cobamamide coenzyme). Mecobamine increases the intake of uridine inrats with deficiencies in Vit B12 and Folic acid and helps to restore normal levels of RNAs in nerve cells. It also enhances the incorporation of Leucine into the crushed nerve in a rat with crushed sciatic nerve. In short, Mecobalamin facilities the synthesis of nucleic acids and protein in nerve cells. Nerve tissue repair it was shown in experiments in rats with crushed sciatic nerve, it exhibits such an action by stimulating the division of Schwann's cells in the affected nerve cells. Nerve tissue repair it was shown in experiments in rats with crushed unilateral sciatic nerve, it exhibits such an action by stimulating the division of Schwann's cells in the affected nerve facilitating myelinogenesis and enhancing protein synthesis. In experiments in rabbits with experimental allergic encephalitis or neuritis. It was revealed that Mecobalamin inhibited regressive changes and the development of disease by exhibiting a remedial action on damaged nerve tissue.
- Improvement of sensory and motor disturbances: In a double - blind controlled clinical study on peripheral neuropathies, Methycobal benefited 77,3 % of Subjects and the rate of effectiveness was significantly higher with Methycobal than with cobamamide (DBCC) and placebo. Methycobal elicited a significantly better response from motor disturbance in gait, dsytaxis and abnormal knee reflexes and sensory disturbances such as numbness and paresthesias.
