Composition
Each tablet contains:
Allylestrenol ........................ 5 mg
Pharmacology
The levels of placental hormones commonly fall in premature termination of pregnancy.
Clinical studies have shown that allylestrenol has a potency to increase the level of placental hormones such as estrgen, progeterone, human chronic gonadotrophin, human placental circulation. Thus, allylestrenol helps to maintain trophoblastic layers of placenta and decrease the risk ot threatene abortion. Allylestrenol has not shown hormonal side effects and other serious disadventage reactions to pregnant woman nor to the fetus.
Indications
PREMASTON® is indicated for the treatment of threatened premature labour, threatened abortion and habitual abortion.
Contraindications
Abnormal liver function.
Dosage and administrations
threatened premature labour:
maximum dose is 40 mg daily, depend upon patient's condition.
Threatened abortion:
5 mg three times daily for 5 - 7 days. The duration of therapy may be extended if necessary. Dosage should be gradually reduced when the symptom is dissapear.
Habitual abortion:
5 - 10 mg daily as soon as pregnancy has been diagnosed. The treatment should be continued at least one month after the critical periods.
Warning and precautions
PREMASTON® should be used cautiously in diabetic patients.
Adverse reactions
GI disturbances such as nausea and vomitting.
