A POTENT GLUCOCORTICOID AND ANTIINFLAMMATORY PREPARATION.
THE PREPARATION OF CHOICE WHEN GLUCOCORTICOID EFFECT IS NEEDED.

COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains :
Dexamethasone ............................................................ 0.5 mg.

PHARMACOLOGY:
scandexon^® is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid.
Due to its membrane stabilizing effect, scandexon^®  exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic actions.
As a result scandexon^®  is effective in ameliorating pain itching and swelling in a variety of diseases.
It is a toxic drug, but a few days treatment in the absence of specific contraindications, is unlikely to produce harmful results.

INDICATIONS:
scandexon^® is used in the treatment of inflammatory, immuno and allergic diseases not responding favorably to other safer drugs such as: bronchial asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, nephritic syndrome, allergic dermatitis, hay fever, serum sickness, ulcerative colitis,tuberculous meningitis, tuberculous pleuritis, and other glucocorticoid responsive conditions.

PRECAUTIONS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS :
It should not be used for more than 1 week without careful observation.
Taper off the dosage after prolonged high dose treatment. scandexon^® is contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer, uncovered infectious diseases, viral diseases, hypertension and behavioral disturbances.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:
The likelihood of adverse reactions are well correlated with the dosage, duration of therapy, and the underlying diseases. Physicians using this drug should consider carefully about the toxicity against the benefits obtainable, etc. Possible adverse effects are as followed : activation of peptic ulcer, hypokalemia, corticotrophin suppression, osteoporosis, diabetogenic effect, moon face and hirsutism.

DOSAGE:
Adjusted to individual requirement. Dose range 0.5 to 10 mg daily.
Larger dose maybe needed for acute serious conditions.
